Excavation work on the basement levels of the Australian Institute for Infectious Disease (AIID) is well underway and scheduled to continue until later in the year.
So far more than 2,500 tandem truckloads, or approximately 25,000 cubic metres of soil has been removed from the site representing two-thirds of the total material to be excavated.
Perimeter piling was completed in June and the capping beam has now been constructed connecting and reinforcing the structure.
The process to appoint the main works contractor remains ongoing, with main works construction expected to commence by the end of the year.
