AIID Facility Update – design development user groups making significant progress

The past few months have seen significant progress made on the detailed design of the AIID facility. A wide range of workshops and user groups have been held on topics as diverse as environmental sustainability, Human Challenge Unit engineering, PC3/APC3 specialist equipment, gas detection, EM Microscopy shared research, ICT engineering, electrical engineering and many more.

Design development-phase user groups are now mostly concluded and the detailed design process is now more than 50 per cent complete. We’ve seen excellent attendance and input from dozens of Foundation Partner staff throughout the process which will ensure every facet of the AIID facility has been designed with care and detail, and with functionality for end-users in mind. We thank everyone involved in this process for the generosity of their time and expertise.

Discussions have also continued regarding the critical Doherty Institue link bridges and the design development of these pathways will be commencing soon. Minimising and managing the impact on Doherty Institute staff and operations is a key consideration in this process.

Meanwhile, the stripping out of existing buildings on site has continued in preparation for demolition. As we move closer to the construction of the facility, expressions of interest for the facility main works contractor will open from next week. Companies interested in participating in this process should monitor VendorPanel for further details.
