AIID facility update – February 2024

All buildings on the AIID site are now vacant and enabling works are continuing this month. The strip-out of existing buildings prior to demolition is well-underway.

This process involves the salvage or recycling of furniture and loose materials in the buildings before commencing the strip-out of fixtures, fittings and non-structural materials.

Safety is of the highest priority and the AIID project team is committed to undertaking this process responsibly and sustainably with at least 90% of waste from the early works program being diverted from landfill.

The image to the right shows the AIID site in red as it currently stands. Over the coming months there will be significant changes and activity that we look forward to sharing as the project comes to life.

In the meantime, many staff from the Foundation Partner organisations have contributed their time and expertise into the schematic design process, ensuring the final building will be fit for purpose and designed to encourage collaboration. Details of the final schematic design will be shared in the coming weeks and months.
