AIID facility update: design development almost complete

The design development phase for the Australian Institute of Infectious Disease (AIID) facility is close to 80% complete. This phase gathers user feedback to adjust and evolve the design in order to increase the definition of the building, structure and services to the next level of detail.

Structural considerations such as the design and placement of the link bridges, goods lifts and basement connections between the AIID facility and the Doherty Institute will be developed as part of this phase, due for completion in early October.

Proposed designs for key staff facilities such as ‘corner stores’ (i.e. kitchens and lunchrooms), tea points, end of trip facilities, bicycle storage, lockers, meeting rooms and the ground level café are also included in this phase and we look forward to sharing the developed designs with staff once complete.

Meanwhile an Expression of Interest process for the main works contractor was run throughout June and July with good engagement from the market. The Request for Tender of the Main Works Contractor is then targeted to commence in October.
